The A4s Pro also offers a useful auto cleaning mode that automatically increases suction power to deal with tough dirt and spills, and comes with batteries that power the ElectroWall that lets you define boundaries where the robot isn't permitted to enter. This budget-friendly model from a well-known brand is the cheapest we've tested and provides exceptional value for the money. The basic navigation system employs a super-basic random pathing algorithm, but it doesn't have room mapping capabilities, which makes it less time efficient than the other models on this list. It's still able to get under furniture and into the corners. Its mopping mode performed very well in our tests by picking up hairs and other debris. 5. Shark iQ Shark's iQ isn't quite as robust as the Roomba S9, but it is superior in general at cleaning up pet hair on all surfaces. It gets rid of floors with less thoroughly and does a fair job on carpets with low pile and also uses smart-pathing navigational technology for greater maneuverability. It also allows you to transfer it to a particular room, and its advanced suite of automation features include no-go zones and scheduling. It even lets you pause and resume cleaning sessions which is ideal for homes with pets. Its self-cleaning brushroll helps prevent the tangles caused by pet hair and other debris and its self-emptying bagless dock station can store up to 30 days of dirt before needing to be emptied. It also comes with an array of side brushes that are angled to penetrate into corners and its multi-stage filtration system can capture dust, dander and allergens for a cleaner air. This robot vacuum is well-built and feels solid. It works with a smartphone application which lets you alter the settings of your vacuum and schedule cleaning sessions ahead of time. The app allows you to view the remaining battery life of the iQ, and send push notifications when it encounters any issues during a cleaning session. You can use your voice to control it with an Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device or, if you don't have either of those options, you can mark areas with physical boundary marker strips. The iQ does a good job of cleaning floors and doing a fair job with shaggy and low-pile carpet however, it doesn't have the same degree of autonomy as our top selections. It is also expensive and its monthly costs can be quite costly.
